Milestone Significance

To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world

In addition to being sobery for a little while now, I today passed a different milestone of sorts. I’ve been biking to work when possible for the last two years. Since April 2008 I’ve biked to work 200 times as of today. 1500 miles, $290 saved, 100 gallons of gas saved, almost a metric ton of Co2 saved.

To some people that’s no big deal.

Meh, you bike to work, so what? But believe me, to the cycling enthusiast, that’s a great thing.

Meh, you haven’t been drunk for a while, so what? But believe me, to the alcoholic, that’s a helluva’n achievement.

Be wary you don’t let other’s apathy for your accomplishments affect your own feelings towards them. Also be wary your apathy of other’s achievements doesn’t bring THEM down.

Anything you ever do in life is only as special as you make it.

  1. WooHoo! Don’t consider myself a cycling enthusiast. A lover of a good, hard ride on the road, YES! Happy for your achievement! Add the swim and the run and, “You are an Ironman!”
